The Atlantica Hotel on the corner of Robie St. and Quinpool Rd. in Halifax was built in the mid 1970s and underwent significant interior and exterior renovations which were completed in 2021.
M&R Engineering was responsible for electrical design including Lighting, Power, Communications and Security as well as mechanical HVAC design and Fire Protection.
Key facts:
· Updated communications cabling for all hotel suites throughout the hotel.
· Provided all new exterior lighting for building recladding project.
· Provided electrical infrastructure to support the replacement of the buildings fire pump and transfer switch.
· Replaced the fire alarm system as the existing system was outdated and no longer functioned properly.
· Replaced the existing emergency generator with a new rooftop mounted generator to support the hotels emergency distribution and the replacement of the buildings fire pump.
· Coordination with Interior Designer to ensure both the esthetics desired and IES standards were met, including reviewing photometric lighting levels.
