This two storey Municipal Building includes council chambers, council offices, open office areas, board room, plans room, lobby and a fitness room.
M&R Engineering was responsible for mechanical design including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection; electrical design including Lighting, Power, Communications and Security and energy modeling for geothermal system design.
Key Facts:
- High Efficiency Building Envelope.
- Water-to-water and water-to-air heat pumps are connected to a horizontal geothermal field (located under a soccer field).
- In-floor heating is installed to provide a comfortable environment and reduce energy use.
- Four heat recovery ventilators (HRV) provide ventilation to the facility recovering heat from exhaust air.
- Occupancy sensors are installed to reduce lighting energy when spaces are unoccupied.
- An Energy Study indicated 58% energy cost savings compared to conventional construction (the 1997 MNECB).
