This 6 story facility was delivered as a design-build project.  In addition to 400 beds, the project incorporates several campus needs including a new cafeteria, underground parking for 60 cars, housing offices and emergency power unit for the south campus zone.

M&R Engineering was responsible for mechanical design including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection as well as electrical design including Lighting, Power, Communications and Security and Energy Modelling. 

Key Facts: 

• Energy efficiency building envelope design with vinyl windows, 24% window-to-wall ratio and R-35 roof insulation.
• Energy is recovered from exhaust air to preheat ventilation air (with the use of energy recovery ventilators).
• Heat is reclaimed from shower drains to preheat domestic hot water.
• Energy modelling indicated 33% energy cost savings against the energy code (MNECB)
