This new Primary Healthcare Centre includes 25 exam rooms, a waiting area, lunch room, locker rooms, and associated utility spaces.
M&R Engineering was responsible for mechanical design including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection as well as electrical design including Lighting, Power, Communications and Security and Sustainability consulting including LEED credit documentation and energy modeling.
Key Facts:
Mechanical design was a 3D model completed in Revit to assist with coordination among other disciplines.
Heating system includes a closed-loop geothermal heat pump system providing heating and cooling.
Radiant floor heating throughout the facility.
Chilled water fan-coil units cool the building.
Ventilation is provided by a 100% outdoor air unit with energy recovery from exhaust air.
Variable Speed drives are installed on circulation pumps save electricity and provide greater control.
An 11kW roof mounted Solar Photovoltaic system is forecast to product over 7% of the buildings energy use.
An Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station was installed as part of the project.
Energy modeling indicated energy savings in excess of 32% from the 2011 NECB.
