Kings County Academy received a 2016 ASHRAE Region II Technology Award in the New Educational Facilities category at the 2015 Region II Chapter Regional Conference in Hamilton, ON. It will be moving on to the Society Technology Awards competition with those winners being announced in the winter of 2016.
The project uses 68% less energy than a school built to the 1997 Model National Energy Code for Building (MENCB) with the help of an open-loop geothermal heat pump system, a solar air heating collector, variable speed drives on fans and pumps and many other technologies.
