M&R has an immediate opening at our Halifax location for a Mechanical Construction Administrator/ Site Reviewer. This opportunity is suited to individuals who enjoy challenging projects, interesting work, and are looking for an opportunity to develop a career within a dynamic and growing consulting engineering firm. You will join an established team of design professionals providing innovative solutions for challenging building design projects. You will be in constant communication with our in-house design team of engineers and technologists as well as communicating with clients and contractors on job sites.

The Successful Candidate will have:

·        a minimum of five years of relevant work experience.

·        Technical expertise in the installation of Plumbing, Fire Protection, and HVAC systems for commercial, healthcare, educational, institutional, or residential construction is necessary. 

·        Be familiar with various HVAC, Plumbing, and Sprinkler systems and the layout of piping and ductwork in coordination with the structure, electrical, and architectural components.

·        Be familiar with Building Automation systems.

·        Have experience with the commissioning of Mechanical and Electrical systems.

·        Detail oriented.

·        Direct or industry-related experience.

·        Ability to work well in a team environment.

·        A proactive approach to tasks and strong initiative.

·        Strong communication and organizational skills.

·        Flexible and adaptable problem-solving skills.

The successful candidates’ key responsibilities:

·        Handle multiple jobs/projects on a weekly basis.

·        Provide technical expertise in the installation of Plumbing, Fire Protection, and HVAC systems.

·        Visit and inspect job sites during the construction phase to confirm proper codes are being used.

·        Visit and inspect job sites during the construction phase to confirm proper materials and equipment has been installed, in the proper locations, based on the shop drawings and specifications.

·        Write reports of job site visits (deficiency lists)

·        Review progress billing

·        Respond to RFI’s, CO’s and any other questions in a timely manner.

·        Coordinate meetings with internal disciplines, external consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors/fabricators.

·        Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate designs for reliable, cost-effective, and efficient operation.

·        Mentor and encourage junior staff.
